4-String Bass IV—Shortscale
4-String 32" scale, fretted electric bass with Kahler tremolo.
Ebony fingerboard, sapele neck, walnut body core. Padouk, ziricote, and bookmatched green poplar top. Red zebrawood and walnut back. Detailed with purpleheart, zebrawood, padouk, and ziricote.
Featuring two Kent Armstrong soapbar pickups, a three-band Kent Armstrong active pickup, Schaller tuners, and a Kahler bass tremolo system.
At the player's request, this new body style is an adaptation of the style I previously used on guitars (like this one). It is a smaller body, well suited to the short scale length of the instrument, with a relief-carved back, and the front carved to include faux f-holes such as are found on violins and archtop guitars. I love the way this body style works on a bass, and have continued to make basses in this style.
